Playing volleyball and flying kites with the community was extremely fun. It brings back old memories, memories of our childhood. The way we are brought up by our parents and the things we experienced during our time as a school age kid is what defines our personality, our behaviour and our how we cope with situations today. Some of us are just very lucky to have had a very strong childhood.
Our stay in the community was not just pure work, of course there’s gathering of data, house-to-house survey and etc., but aside from that, we were also given the chance to have fun and at the same time stay physically fit, that’s by playing volleyball almost every day of our stay. From the day of our arrival to our last day in the community we were invited several times to play the game with them. I personally felt the excitement and the joy of being invited to play that made me feel like I am a part of the community. Another fun-filled activity that we have done with the community was kite flying. Since I was a kid, I always enjoyed flying kites. I never get tired of making another kite whenever the first one goes down or gets stuck on a tree or for short is a failure. During our stay, we had very many kite sessions with the kids. I think that it was fun and helpful to the kids in a way that it would strengthen their childhood and it would teach them many simple life lessons that would be useful to them in the near future. We should always remember that if you make a kite and it fails to fly, it doesn’t mean that you should stop playing and just go home, it only means that you go make another kite and continue playing and making kites until you are able to make the perfect one that will soar up high and make you smile and happy.
These two activities may just be regular and ordinary activities that anyone can do anytime. It becomes a different story when you do it with the ones you are comfortable and happy to be with, it becomes extra special. The group is very happy to be part of these activities, not only did we enjoy and reminisced memories of the past, we also strengthened the bond between the community and the team.
