Our community assembly was held the day before we would go home. Although we informed the barangay officials a few days before hand that we would be conducting an assembly, we had a rough time when we learned that not many people have heard about it. We feared that we may not have an audience or that only very few people will come. We were not very prepared but nonetheless we pulled it all off quite well. We did not just do it on our own but we did it with the help of some people in the community who offered to give us whatever help we needed. The children who have also been close to us also helped us in preparing the stage. On the day of the assembly, contrary to what we thought, many people came.
There may still be a lot of people who did not go but at least there were more people than we expected who came from each purok, especially purok 3 which was the farthest. We asked them about their problems and asked them to rank each of their problems. They were very cooperative. We were able to get a good feedback from them. It was a big thanks to the BHW’s and some people in the community whom we grew fond of that we were able to conduct a good community assembly. If it weren’t for them, we would not have identified the problems in the community as well as we could. Also, Doc Maita, our community preceptor has been very helpful in giving comments and suggestions that would help us be more effective in our activities and future projects. In the end, we got past through all the difficulties. Our community assembly was a success.
