Surprises, surprises, surprises.. Those were the only things that we saw when we went back to our beloved barangay “BALACBAAN”. All of us were expecting a full month of hard, timeless, never ending walk around surveying the whole community; but then, an amazing task of Phil Health Profiling was given to us, by Dr. Mathilda Ladeza, which saved us a lot of time and effort to do our community survey. Instead of surveying the whole barangay, the Phil Health Profiling provided us with an opportunity of surveying every family while profiling them in the Barangay Hall of Purok 1 in a very short time. One might think that profiling every family of a barangay is hard work; I tell you it really was, but nonetheless we had some bloopers, like “Unsa ang panglaban sa manok sir?” which was supposed to be ““Unsa ang panglaban sa lamok sir?” and “Unsa ang pama”agi sa pagna’og sa ubos(pertaining to traveling) maam?” which was answered with “Tsinelas lang sir”, which gave us a good laugh every now and then.
Sometime after everyone finished their part of the Phil Health Profiling, the barangay officials called for a formal meeting and we were invited. The officials might be tiny in numbers, but their ideas are mighty. When the meeting started, every plan was well thought of and discussed, all the years of experience they had was integrated in to a simple well-structured design that we saw with awe and jaws dropped, but at least we learned a lot and had pretty nice ideas to collaborate with their plans.
As everyone went home to Zamboanga, each and every one got ideas for a better and fruitful future of Balacbaan. It seems the closer you are to people the more reason you’ll need to improve yourself, and as time passes by we will be better for the future of everyone.
